In this article we shall have a detailed explanation for preparation of individual chapters and your plan throughout the year.
Class 11 is the building block for JEE and a strong basic conceptual knowledge of class 11 helps to build strong analytical skills which helps a person to think all around in any problem of any subject.More importantly it helps to solve problems and calculations faster which is going to help a student throughout the preparations.
Many students start studying intensely with Unit,Dimension and Error and reading Kinematics and Newton's Law of Motion too much and when the important topics from class 11 like Thermodynamics,Heat Transfer ,COM ,MOI or Gravitation turn comes,students don't even read standard textbooks which are taught in school like GRB,Pradeeps or any other book.This lead to spoiling your entire efforts one has done during months of April to August.
So,it is very important to read as per the importance of the subject. One should accommodate time for each chapter in proportion to the weightage of that chapter. It is of no use to devote four months to Kinematics and Newton Law of motion if you can not study Mechanics Part 2 topics like SHM,COM,Gravitation ,Waves and Thermodynamics.
One can have a check on the weightage of individual topic from Arihant Previous Year Question Paper Book for JEE Mains and Addvance separately and after reading book, one must practice question from this book for self assessment.
Some important point for preparation of Physics which are going to help you in your later time of year or Class 11 or 12th :(Especially for JEE Mains)
- You should be able to complete portion up to Work Energy Theorem by 15 August from the textbook one has chosen.
- Read Work Energy, Centre Of Mass, Conservation of Momentum and Collision theory over and again from D C Pandey and try not to skip even a single question from it atleast of question labelled with ''For JEE MAINS" Or "Level 1 question".You shall find direct concept related question from this book in your exam.
- Do not just do a formality while reading waves chapter especially beats, onertones,harmonics,open pipes etc. ,gravitation and SHM .
- Even if you read Waves from your Board exam textbook ,you shall be able to solve your question related to it in JEE Mains.
- Just read basic concepts or read your class book for Fluid Mechanics and do not try to indulge in it too much.
- Rotation is such a chapter everyone faces difficulty. Even if you cannot understand it too much,just try to get basic concept clarity like Torque,angular momentum ,MOI .Do not let this chapter derail you from your path.
- Try to complete Mechanics Part 2 by D C Pandey by 15 December.
- Heat Transfer and Thermodynamics is one of easiest chapter along with SHM and waves which unfortunately no one read properly and these chapters have one of the highest weightage in JEE Mains.There are always 3-4 questions in JEE Advance from Heat Transfer and Thermodynamics which are easy to do provided you have read them properly.
- Try to complete the entire part of XI by 15 January and then do revision again and again of important Chapters and do not waste much time on Kinematics and Newton Law of Motion.Revise SHM,COM and Collision Theory,MOI,Thermodynamics,Heat Transfer,Work Energy,Waves,gravitation as much as you can.
- Last but not least, Errors ,Dimension and Vectors are bonus marks for anyone and do not lose them at any cost.
